Allen Benson

Regent Allen T. Benson was born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma, alongside his seven siblings. He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College and earned a Bachelor of Science in Technical Education with a specialization in Electronic Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He also completed automotive mechanics training through SouthernTech in Ardmore.
Benson dedicated more than 41 years of service to Michelin North America, where he held a variety of positions before retiring as a senior instructor. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his expertise in technical training, workforce development, and mentorship, helping prepare generations of employees for success in advanced manufacturing.
A committed community leader, Benson has served as a deacon at Corinth Baptist Church, former Chair of the HFV Wilson Community Center Board, and an electrical instructor at SouthernTech. His dedication to education and service has positively impacted countless students, employees, and community members throughout southern Oklahoma.
Benson and his wife, Regina, are the proud parents of two sons, Allen T. Benson II and Wesley Adair Maximilian (Max) Benson.
Appointed to the 91Ó°ÊÓ Board of Regents by Governor Frank Keating in 2001, Benson is the longest-serving Regent in the institution's history. His decades of leadership, combined with more than four decades of professional experience in industry and education, have helped guide 91Ó°ÊÓ through significant growth and transformation while advancing its mission of educational excellence and community service.
